Official suspension letter
August 23, 2024
Dear Brother,
This letter is to inform you that the Grand High Zeta has voted to suspend the operations of the Phi-Mu Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha at Bowling Green State University pursuant of Article 8, Section 2 of the Constitution. This action is effective upon issuance of this letter. The Grand High Zeta took this action in response to the university suspension of undergraduate operations of the Chapter following finding the Chapter "responsible" for the following charges:
G.2.f.iii.a Offenses Against Person - Hazing
G.2.f.iii.b Offenses Against Person - Hazing
G.4.b.ii Offenses Disrupting Order or Disregarding Health and Safety - Furnishing
G.4.b.iv Offenses Disrupting Order or Disregarding Health and Safety - Organization
More details of specific rationale are available upon request. The Fraternity is actively working to secure a date for Lambda Chi Alpha to return to campus. Please reach out to Health and Wellness Manager, Zach Rodgers, zrodgers@lambdachi.org if you would like more information.
The following guidelines have been established for any Chapter that is declared suspended within Lambda Chi Alpha as described by Code 8-2 (a) and (b) of the Constitution and Statutory Code:
All undergraduate students at Bowling Green State University who are Initiated Members of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity continue to have all of the rights and privileges of Members of the Fraternity but shall have Inactive Standing until they cease to be Undergraduates, at which time they should notify the Office of Administration, and they shall be considered Alumni Brothers.
All Associate Members of the Chapter shall cease to be Members of the Fraternity, are released from any obligations and commitments to Lambda Chi Alpha and may join any other fraternity if they so choose.
The Members may not represent Lambda Chi Alpha or the Phi-Mu Zeta in any manner on the Bowling Green State University campus, including social events, intramurals, and the Interfraternity Council. Alumni events are allowed.
There are to be no gatherings in the name of Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi-Mu Zeta, or any variation there of in connection with Bowling Green State University.
No Ritual of the Fraternity will be conducted in any manner and there shall be no further initiations or associations into the Phi-Mu Zeta unless so ordered by the Grand High Zeta.
The Phi-Mu Zeta will no longer be included in the insurance policy of the General Fraternity, including liability insurance.
Lambda Chi Alpha is hopeful that we will have a future at Bowling Green State University that will bring forth the truest demonstration of our traditions, principles and ideals.
Yours in ZAX,
Steve Pattison
