PHILIP DOCK Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 7, 2023.

Philip A. Dock, known to his loved ones as Phil, passed away on November 2, 2023, at the age of 64. Born on June 14, 1959, in Lima, Ohio, Phil was beloved by many and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Phil had a goofy sense of humor and was known for his kind and friendly nature. He loved to chat and always made time for his family and his dog, Lucy. Phil's warm personality and genuine care for others endeared him to many.

In his educational journey, Phil graduated from Lima High School before furthering his studies at Bowling Green State University.

Throughout his career, Phil dedicated many years to managing hotels and making friends in the hospitality industry. He spent over 20 years with IHG Hotels & Resorts. While the majority of his career was spent in the Cleveland, Ohio area, Phil had the opportunity to manage properties in Fort Knox in Kentucky, and Fort Lee in Richmond, Virginia.

Outside of work, Phil had a variety of hobbies. He loved hunting for bargains at thrift stores and estate sales, and he was quite skilled at throwing bags in a game of cornhole in the backyard. Classic rock was his preferred choice of music, and he enjoyed traveling with his wife Sharon to destinations such as Paris and Aruba, as well as local shopping trips to Marc's. Phil had a fondness for non-alcoholic beers, which he paired with his favorite snack, Bugles and spray cheese. He enjoyed "phil"osophical discussions around the firepit after a good meal. His home in Olmsted Falls was always open for parties, holidays, and impromptu get-togethers.

A celebration of life reception to honor and remember Phil will be held on Friday, November 17 from 5-8pm at The Community Room, located at 7900 Fitch Rd, Olmsted Township, Ohio 44138.

Phil is survived by his loving wife Sharon Plymale Dock, stepdaughter Beth Heffner, stepsons Matthew Cook, Adam Cook, and Richard Cook, son-in-law Robert Heffner, sisters Lisa Boop and Sue Dock, nieces, nephew, and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Darrel Dock and mother Marilyn Simmons Dock.

Phil's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
